Nelson Uygongco

Nelson Uygongco (born January 28,1964, Iloilo City, Philippines) is the only Filipino to hold all five Pistol DIvission with an Open Rifle Divission Championship crown in the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) shooting sports.
He started shooting in 1989 with a good performance at the 1990 National which landed him in 10th place overall .
A businessman by profession, he shoots on and off until his break at the 1996 PPSA (Philippines Practical Shooting Association) National which gave him the Open National Championship title.
The soft-spoken competitor known to the international shooting community as "Nelson" of the philippines, was a member of the Worldshoot Team Philippines at the Worldshoot XII (Philippines, 1999), Worldshoot XIII (South Africa, 2002) and Worldshoot XIV(Equador 2005)
In his teens,he had a motorcycle accident in 1980 which broke his right leg and in 1985 that broke his left leg, a traumatic cyst in the knee in 1999 and an osteoarthritic condition.
The Grandmaster at 42 years of age and with all the achivements and handcaps, prepares for his fourth world match in 2008 for the worldshoot XV in Bali, Indonesia,
Nelson attributes his skills to his love of the sports,a very supportive wife, great kids, great friends and and his quest for excellence.
